Staking
By launching the Shelley upgrade, Cardano introduced staking rewards for users who hold the ADA cryptocurrency. So If you decide to stake(delegate) your Cardano (ADA tokens), you’ll periodically earn a return on your investment. This period is flexible and you can decide to undelegate your ADA at any time or stake your ADA at another stakepool. Staking also helps the Cardano network: it is the process by which validators are selected to create a new block and process transactions.
Cardano staking operates on a cyclical basis rewards are paid out every “epoch,” (period of 5 days).
